6 Powerful Ways to Elevate Your State

What up homies!? Today it’s been 8 years since my Dad passed away. Trying to heal from that heartbreaking experience has been a long ongoing journey, but I’m happy to report that I’ve been making a lot of progress. I’ve had several breakthroughs, or pivotal points, that continue to help me evolve, move forward, and come to terms with everything that my family and I went through. Sometimes these transformations occurred instantaneously, and sometimes they were drawn out over time. Unfortunately we all have to deal with pain and loss sooner or later.   I’ve decided to share some of the experiences and resources that have had a major positive impact on my life with y’all, I hope you discover something useful.  Happy Holidays!

1. Music

Right before my dad died I got myself into a bunch of trouble. After some not so legal entrepreneurial activities, I was arrested, evicted, and suspended from college. In my eyes he died thinking I was a failure, and I was very hard on myself. I was consumed by grief and guilt, constantly reminding myself of all of my sorrows and shortcomings.
I experienced one of my first breakthroughs a few months after he passed away. I went to a music festival, and throughout the weekend I was able to get lost in the music long enough to escape the dense negativity I had been carrying around with me. I was immediately aware of the transformation when it happened. I had let my guard down and let happiness take over for a minute.
I became aware of the fact that it was my choice to do so, and that I had control over my own emotions. From that moment on I stopped focusing on negativity and started to let joy and happiness seep back into my life. Music has always been a big source of inspiration, healing, and joy for me.

  • Live music can be very moving and enthralling. When you find the kind of music that strikes your cord deep down inside, you can be completely taken over by the rhythm and melody.

When I started traveling abroad to other countries I become extremely grateful and aware of how fortunate I was. There are so many people who have nothing, and who struggle throughout their whole lives just to survive. When I saw this level of poverty I stopped complaining about my own petty woes, and started appreciating the opportunities, gifts, and advantages in life I had been given.

  • Going outside of your comfort zone will enable you to have unique experiences that will help you gain more  wisdom and personal growth, as you continue to evolve towards a higher consciousness.
  • For the first 18 years of my life I had a very sheltered existence and narrow perspective of what life outside of my bubble was like.
  • In America there always seemed to be so much pressure to choose the same path as everyone else, go to school, work a 9 – 5 office job, get married, have kids, etc.
  • When I started to travel outside of the US I was exposed to new concepts, cultures, and ways of living.
  • Everywhere I went there were different ideas about how to dress, how to dance, how to cook, how families and people interacted with one another.
  • I met people from all over the world who blazed their own trails.
  • I met people who had gone through far worse ordeals than I had, and I stopped feeling sorry for myself, and started to feel grateful.
  • After seeing so many different ways to live, I stopped feeling pressured to settle down, get a real job, and live out the “American Dream.”

3. Working on a Yacht

It’s very fulfilling when you witness the evolution of an idea or thought coming into manifestation. My experience getting a job on a yacht, combined with other past accomplishments, affirmed to me what can be achieved if you set a goal and work towards it. We really are the creators of our own reality, anything is possible.

Ways Working on a Yacht Has Impacted Me

  • When I started out in the yachting industry I was absolutely clueless about anything and everything having to do with life on the water.
  • Over time, I witnessed my own progression as I developed a whole new world of skills and knowledge of the nautical world.
  • Succeeding in this gave me confidence and encouragement for future endeavors.

  • I realized I could easily get by comfortably with minimal material items and space.

The thought of giving up your former way of living can be intimidating, but once you actually get out there and do it, you find that it’s really not that hard.

  • I transitioned from a spacious house with my own room, privacy, and no rules, to a tiny crew quarters, a shared cabin, and a very disciplined work schedule.
  • I learned how to deal with a variety of different personalities living together in close quarters.
  • I had no control over my circumstances.  I stopped planning, anticipating, and learned to go with the flow.
  • I no longer had the distractions I was so accustomed to here in the US – internet service, cell phones, social media,  etc.  I wasn’t busy making plans with friends, or making decisions about what activities I would do that day, or what to cook that night.  Instead I was able to be more mindful and focus on the present moment.

  • While working on the yacht I began listening to audiobooks, podcasts, and other audio content that enabled me to explore so many new concepts and ideas about reality,  spirituality, enlightenment, nutrition, and lifestyle design.
  •  I’ve integrated these new concepts into my life which has resulted in a huge transformation.

Podcasts I listen to

As a deckhand on a yacht, you often times have to do tasks that are very mundane and time consuming. Out of desperation and boredom, I discovered audiobooks, and podcasts.I began listening to them religiously.
It was too difficult to follow along with novels while trying to multi-task so I selected educational, and informational content. I learned so much amazing life altering ideas while waxing and polishing, it was awesome.

Thanks to all of those audiobooks and podcasts, I learned a LOT about nutrition, lifestyle, and global awareness. Let me begin by stating that I do not recommend doing any of these without first doing extensive research, and ensuring that you are in a safe controlled environment. I’m not encouraging you to do anything, just sharing my own personal experience with them, because they have played a huge role in my personal growth and well-being.
I’ve always been very curious, and open to experimenting with hallucinogens and psychedelics. However, the most prolific experience I’ve had so far is without a doubt the Ayahuasca Ceremonies I participated in down in the Amazonian Rainforest. I will be sharing a lot more details about this in the future, but in the meantime here are some resources so that you can do your own research.

    • This is where I spent 5 days and participated in 3 ceremonies.  Our Shaman Javier is very legit, and I had a great experience.  I would recommend him to any of my friends and family.
